Shane Swann is a practicing artist, illustrator, and picture framer who lives just outside Cambridge.
“I’ve been passionate about art for most of my life”.
My work has constantly evolved over the years, enabling me to experiment with a variety of media and subject matter.
In 2011 I began to develop my trademark style, using pen, pencil, and acrylic paint to create wildlife illustrations. Learning about the natural world through researching my subject matter caused me to discover how much of it is under threat! Therefore in 2015 I began a project to promote awareness of this issue. All the animals I draw now, are either endangered worldwide or extinct in the UK. My hope is that people who view my work will emotionally engage with the concept, reminding them of our impact on the natural world, and hopefully helping to encourage a more environmentally conscious society.
I have always loved art! I studied it throughout school and then at university, where I earned a BA hons degree in Fine Art.
I’m also a Fine Art Trade Guild Commended Framer, and take great pleasure in being able to frame all of my work myself.
I recently moved from the Lawson Gallery, and now work at HMC Framing Winship Road in Milton. There’s plenty of free parking and I am still framing to the high standards I pride myself on.”
